Call to volunteers: Help build a child’s dream playground
Rome wasn’t built in a day, but five consecutive AAOS Annual Meetings have proved that a playground can be! Hundreds of children and families from the Anacostia neighborhood in Washington, D.C., are enjoying the safe, accessible playground completed at the 2005 Annual Meeting. AAOS members and industry participants gave this community a much-needed playground where children with and without disabilities can play together safely.
Organizers are looking for AAOS members, friends and partners who want to participate in the 2006 Playground Build in New Orleans. On Tuesday, March 7 (the day before the Annual Meeting officially begins), you can help transform barren land into a dream playground. Playground equipment will be assembled under the direction of project managers—no experience necessary. Buses will come and go from the convention center throughout the day, and food and beverages will be provided onsite. The day will culminate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by government officials, building partners and media.
You will leave the site knowing that the playground will be a place where children can make friends and create lifelong memories.
