September 1997 AAOS Report

A Joint Parade earns funds for research

More than 50 sites across the U.S. participated in this year's A Joint Parade-a fundraising walk founded by the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF), and coordinated for the first time by the Arthritis Foundation. A portion of the proceeds from the walks go to OREF to fund quality research and education projects. The Arthritis Foundation already is starting work for A Joint Parade in 1998. Academy members are encouraged to volunteer by contacting their local Arthritis Foundation chapter or the foundation's national office at (404) 872-7100. Participation in the event can be as simple as recruiting patients to participate in the event or volunteering your own services.
