September 1998 AAOS Report
Attend annual business meetings
It is not too early to begin planning your Annual Meeting schedule, and that is why all fellows are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11:15 a.m. There will be one business meeting for the 501(c)(3) organization, immediately followed by a second meeting for the 501(c)(6) organization-Orthopaedic Surgeons of America (OSA). OSA is the parallel-member organization that will allow the Academy to pursue greater lobbying and other advocacy activities on behalf of the orthopaedic community.
Academy members also are encouraged to attend the Bylaws Committee open hearing on Thursday, Feb. 4, beginning at 1 p.m., to provide comments on proposed amendments; many of the proposed amendments to be voted on by Academy fellows at the meeting deal with the organizational structuring of the 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations. The Resolutions Committee will hold its open hearing on Friday, Feb. 5, beginning at 10 a.m., to discuss the resolutions under consideration at the Annual Meeting. Both committees present their recommendations at the annual business meeting.
