Program committee presents balanced meeting

The Central Program Committee, under the chairmanship of Stuart Weinstein, MD, is presenting a record 27 symposia at the Annual Meeting. But this isn't the committee's greatest achievement this year, according to Dr. Weinstein.

Balance is. "We have a really well-balanced program at the Annual Meeting," said Dr. Weinstein. "We cover many 'emerging technology' subjects, and we offer some new general topics.

"We put meeting attendees in the unenviable position of having to make a choice," he said.

Themes that stand out among the symposia selected are emerging technology and general social issues. The Central Program Committee also takes charge of the papers and posters that are presented at the meeting.

"We received just under 4,000 abstracts for the posters and papers this year," said Dr. Weinstein. The committee of five members divided up the abstracts and graded each as a paper and as a poster.

"We consider the papers equal to the posters," said Dr. Weinstein. All Posters Exhibits are in Hall E of the Moscone Convention Center.
