Media spokesperson program
Each week, the Academy receives dozens of phone calls from newspaper, magazine, radio and television station reporters who are looking to interview an expert on a particular orthopaedic topic.
To respond effectively, the Academy has a cadre of trained spokespersons who can quickly respond to media queries on a variety of topics. These volunteers are vital in establishing orthopaedic surgeons as the experts on conditions affecting muscles, bones and joints. The volunteer spokespeople receive training and support from the Academy’s Public Education and Media Relations committee and staff.
If you’re interested in serving as a volunteer spokesperson for the AAOS, simply complete an online volunteer form. Visit the AAOS members only section. You will need your Academy username and password. Or request a form from Pat Julitz at (847) 384-4036 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
