Visit the Placement Center to connect with employers

The AAOS Placement Center is “highly effective” and “one of the best run placement centers out there,” according to those who have used it!

If you’re looking for new practice opportunities or to expand your group practice, take advantage of the Placement Center’s services, right here in San Diego. Located in the Sails Pavilion of the San Diego Convention Center, the Placement Center is open today through Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Orthopaedists who are interested in a new practice opportunity or who want to expand their practice can visit the AAOS Placement Center during the 2007 Annual Meeting. Employers with active listings can reserve booths at the Center.

The Placement Center distributes listings of Positions Wanted and Practice Opportunities each day of the Annual Meeting. Per Academy policy, professional recruiters are not allowed to participate in this service.

All current participants must check in at the Placement Center before 3 p.m. for their listing to appear in the next day’s listings. While at the Placement Center, those seeking employment can check out the bulletin boards for information that hiring organizations will post about their hospitals or practices.

Candidates can contact employers to set up on-site interviews using message kiosks available throughout the San Diego Convention Center. Six interview booths will be available at the Placement Center for employers to reserve.

If you currently have a listing in the AAOS quarterly publication of Practice Opportunities or if you are a candidate seeking employment, you may use the Placement Center’s services free of charge. Non-members and members who post a new job opportunity listing on-site must pay $475. The cost allows your ad to run on the Placement Center Web site, www.aaos.org/placement, for one full year.

According to David Nyman, in-house physician recruitment coordinator for Prevea Health/St. Vincent Hospital, the Placement Center “makes it easy to connect with those who are looking [for employment] and get them information about your position. This is a low-cost, highly effective way to recruit.”

Be sure to stop the Placement Center in the Sails Pavilion of the San Diego Convention Center. For information after the Annual Meeting, contact the Placement Service at (800) 346-2267, ext. 4259, or e-mail placement@aaos.org.
