Don’t miss the U.S. Marines at today’s Opening Ceremony

By Jennie McKee

In the past, they’ve marched “from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli.” But today, the U.S. Marines will be marching through Ballroom 20 to kick off the 2007 Annual Meeting Opening Ceremonies. You’ll be on your feet listening to the 1st Marine Division Band’s stirring musical performance. In addition, the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego Color Guard will honor the Academy with a dignified presentation of the colors.

It’s all scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center. Another highlight of the Opening Ceremonies will be a showing of the Academy’s public service advertising (PSA) campaign. The campaign features engaging print, radio and television PSAs on topics such as improving patient-physician communication and avoiding injuries from riding all-terrain vehicles.

In addition, the Kappa Delta and OREF Awards will be presented and AAOS President Richard F. Kyle, MD, will summarize the Academy’s achievements in 2006 in areas such as advocacy, fostering unity in the orthopaedic community, education, and communications.

Plan on attending….it will be an unforgettable experience!
