Bone and Joint Decade recognized in 16 states

Orthopaedic surgeons have been successful in getting their state officials to recognize 2000-2010 as the Bone and Joint Decade. As of this writing, proclamations have been issued in 16 states–Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota and Texas, Vermont and Wisconsin.

Orthopaedists also are active in urging President Clinton to declare the Bone and Joint Decade in the United States. More than 600 calls have been made and faxes sent to the White House urging Clinton to support the international initiative. Orthopaedists can send a fax to the White House by calling a toll-free telephone number (888) 671-4900.
