Scientific, technical exhibits offer the latest in orthopaedics
Its not exactly time to start packing your bags, but it is time to be finalizing plans for attending the AAOS Annual Meeting Wednesday Feb. 28 through Sunday March 4, 2001 in Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco. Specialty Day will be Saturday, March 3.
Youll find a comprehensive educational program that you can customize to fit your needs for today and tomorrow. Whatever you need to know or want to learn will be offered in 288 podium and 468 poster presentations, 181 instruction courses and 70 scientific exhibits. A record 27 symposia will be offered, many featuring emerging technologies.
Dont forget the Technical Exhibits where new orthopaedic equipment, devices and services will be displayed in the largest exhibition of its kind. More than 400 exhibiting companies will be in Halls A, B, C and D of the Moscone Convention Center. Exhibits will be open Wednesday, Feb. 28 through Friday, March 2.
Heres the run down on the guest speakers. Deepak Chopra, MD, a pioneer of alternative medicine, will be the keynote speaker at the Spouse/Guest Program on Wednesday, Feb. 28. David Satcher, MD, PhD, U.S. Surgeon General has been invited to speak at two symposia, "Comprehensive Fracture Management: The Cause, Not Just the Cast" and on "Diversity and Cultural Competence in Orthopaedic Practice" on March 1.
Mitch Albom, author of the best selling book, Tuesdays with Morrie, and a nationally syndicated newspaper and TV sports commentator, will speak on Friday, March 2.
Make time to attend the annual business sessions. The Annual Meeting Resolutions Committee will hold an Open Hearing on resolutions at 1 p.m. on Feb. 28 in the Argent Hotel. The Bylaws Committee will hold an Open Hearing to receive comments on proposed amendments at 8 a.m. March 1 in the Argent Hotel.
All fellows are urged to attend the Annual Business Meetings in Moscone Center on March 2. A Ceremonial Meeting at 8 a.m. will be followed by guest speaker Mitch Albom. At 9:15 a.m. there will be a business meeting for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the 501(c)(3) organization, immediately followed by the business meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the 501(c)(6) organization.
