A trial issue of a journal containing the abstracts with complete graphics and detailed legends of selected 1997 Annual Meeting Scientific Exhibits will be mailed to all fellow and candidate members in April as a benefit of membership.
Approximately 90 percent of exhibitors selected by the Committee
on Exhibits in August for display at the Annual Meeting expressed
a desire to have their abstract considered for publication.
The journal, provisionally titled Archives of the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is being developed by the
staff of Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons:
A Comprehensive Review. The Committee on Exhibits, chaired
by John Cardea, MD, will be editorial advisors for the trial issue.
A reader survey also will be included. Survey responses will be
evaluated to determine whether subsequent issues should be published.
The concept of the Archives of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is to preserve the visual aspect of the exhibits as well as the text, and to provide members who do not attend the meeting with an opportunity to review selected exhibits.
