It's not too early to start thinking about the 64th Annual meeting Feb. 13-17, 1997 in San Francisco.
The city by the Bay usually draws a large attendance so this year housing forms will be mailed earlier than usual. The housing forms for Annual Meeting hotel reservations will be mailed in September. The Annual Meeting Preliminary Program and registration forms will be sent in mid-October.
The Academy has rooms in 80 hotels near the Moscone Convention Center, Union Square, and Fisherman's Wharf. San Francisco offers housing options which include the major chains and many charming boutique hotels.
The Annual Meeting program will include a full array of presentations of scientific papers, symposia, instructional course lectures, exhibits, guest speakers, and Academy business meetings.
The Academy's housing bureau, International Travel Service (ITS), will accept reservations by phone, fax or mail. Callers should have their Academy ID number and credit card handy. The ID number, which is on the housing form address label, will be required this year to insure that the computerized on-site housing locator will be as complete as possible. The deposit will remain $150 per room.
Discounted airfares also are available for the meeting. Discounts of 5-10 percent off the lowest and unrestricted fares are offered through your own travel agent, the airlines, or ITS.
