After a three-year hiatus, Orthopaedics Overseas has reopened its program in Ethiopia.
Robert Shanewise, MD, former director of the program, visited Addis Ababa earlier this year to re-evaluate the state of orthopaedics at Addis Ababa University Medical School as well as the level of instruction for residents and medical students. Currently, there are two orthopaedic surgeons on the teaching staff at the university.
Volunteers for adult trauma and general orthopaedics are needed on a monthly basis to participate in the ongoing program of postgraduate training and orthopaedic service at the Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa.
